First let me thank my source for this. He is a fraternity brother of mine and he is a pilot. I won't use his name because I don't have his permission to do so nor did I ask for it. Their is one thing I still do believe in and that's privacy.
According to USA Today Travel writer Ben Mutzabaugh, the DOT has fined United for wasting the resources of the department by reporting misleading numbers for flight delays. Under the new DOT rules
carriers can be fined for flight delays longer than three hours if they don't provide the opportunity for the passengers to deplane prior to the three hours mark and offer food and beverage services. For the whole story click on the link below.

Now back to why I bring this up. The DOT is an agency of the government. This is the same government who told you you will have health care whether or not you want it. This is the same government who told you with the stimulus package unemployment won't go above 8% while we research the affects of marjuana on monkeys and form wasteful commisions to determine whether or not buying carbon dioxide would help the economy. This is the exact same government who wants a jobs bill, also known as a stimulus package (I call a spade a spade), and an education package even though we still have $41Billion to spend from the first package.
I quote my brother when he asked, "When the government wastes my resources, can I fine them $12,000?"
