Have you heard any good comments lately on the service at restaurants?

I like to go to restaurants. Some of my favorites are Longhorn, Carrabas, and Renna's Pizza here in Jacksonville. I go to others every now and again but they all have one thing in common. The service is lacking in all of them. My wife and I have been ignored, denied simple requests to order, and even witnessed total lack or regard for making the guest comfortable by the management. You would think that people in the service industry would do what it takes to
keep guests in the seats but maybe money isn't good enough. Let me give you some prime examples.
1. Outback Steak House- My wife and I visited our Orange Park location. We didn't have to wait long to get seated but it took 10 minutes to get a server and it sounded as if she was complaining about having a table or two. We were ready to order everything but apparently our server was trained to greet all of her new tables before taking anything other than a drink order. So after waiting another 5 minutes, we finally got our drinks. Our server decided to take care of the table that was sat after us even though they were clearly not ready. So we left and went to Red Lobster. I wrote an email to Outback while eating dinner at Red Lobster. I received a letter with gift certificates and a phone call. We decided to give it one more try. The server was new but the second experience was better than the last one but there were plenty of flaws. No more Outback in Orange Park.
2.McDonalds on Blanding and Collins. These guys are a cheerful bunch. Not one smile from any of them. All I ordered was a kids meal and these people looked as if I was an inconvenience to them. Cars were wrapped around the building and there was enough staff there where everybody could have had one job apiece and there would have been a surplus of people.
3. Any restaurant on 103rd St. (Popeyes, Sonic, Firehouse)- Slow service is no excuse for poor quality. All three need a new sense of urgency. I really liked it when the manager of Firehouse was on the phone cussing at one of the employees while handling food. I also liked when a Popeyes employee got done smoking her cigarette and went straight back to work without washing her hands.

If you love great service go to Longhorn on Blanding, Carrabas on Wells Road, Red Lobster on Blanding, or Renna's on Youngerman Circle. If you get great service, tell the manager and your friends. If you get bad service tell EVERYONE.
