To set the record straight, I am a Libertarian. I claim it on my Facebook page. It is on my voters registration card. Also, I used to watch programs like Glenn Beck (Fox News) and The Situation Room (CNN). After I heard anything from either program, I checked it out myself. I have read and researched the Health Care Law, Financial Reform Bill, the stimulus bill, and other legislation that has been presented or passed. I have read what the CBO (Congression Budget Office) has to say about the financial cost of these bills. I have looked into all media outlets, not just Fox News. I definitely look at the founders/owners of all media outlets to see what their agenda is. I look into every source possible to formulate my own opinion.
I have to apologize to my friends Nicole and Mark for using their images from the "Restoring the Sanity" rally in Washington D.C. It was in poor taste and character to do so. I was out of line in the use of those images as I never asked for permission from either of the owners of the images to use them. I did so knowingly and never intended to personally hurt, degrade, or insult the owners of the images. I made sure before posting the images on my blog that the owners were not in the images.
However, as I stated before, I research everything before formulating my own opinion. My opinion of the signs in this rally stands. This country has serious problems and I assure you government is not the answer to our problems although they have caused enough. The media is not the answer to our problems although, depending on the source you use, you will hear differences of opinion depending on what side that media source leans to (i.e. Fox - Conservative, CNN - Liberal). I did watch a good deal of the rally online and humor and satire were the order of the day at this rally, but it was also a political statement. Even though it was filled with laughter and the musical duel between Ozzy (one of my all time favs) and Cat Stevenson, it still had no real message behind it other than to mock politics and media. Both are important in that politicians make decisions that affect our lives and media brings us the news about those decisions. Why make fun of something that affects you? Speak out about it and make your voice heard. The moment you start making fun of either, they seem to turn against you.
To close, I have removed the blog post with those images on it, as I promised I would in my counter comment to Mark. I am pleased with the outcomes of this mid-term election. The people I wanted to see in office are there now, with the exception of Mrs. Angle out in Nevada. Harry Reid is an Obama democrat and he is part of the political problem of "ramming through measures" to ensure you have health care. Oh by the way, if you don't have health care coverage you will receive a tax penalty. Good Job to the Americans that voted yesterday, regardless of who you voted for. You did one of your most important duties for this country. Now the next thing you should be doing is educating yourselves for the next election and find out if the newly elected officials, as well as the old officials, are doing the job they said they would do. Thank you to every one who reads this. Oh by the way, I do this to get a reaction from the most diverse group of people I can. I don't do this to hurt feelings, make fun of people, bully (popular word today), cause problems, or anything else that can be considered derogatory.
Hmmm having problems posting this, will try again!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jason. You didn't insult me personally, was just surprised that you used the pics without letting me know and wrote mean (and in my opinion) false things. I certainly found it amusing to provide some fodder for your rants! I still think that you missed the point of the rally. Instead of reacting in Anger and Frustration and FEAR! over 200,000 moderates gathered for some fun, satire, reasonableness, and correctly spelled signs. It was quite the experience being there. If you haven't already, watch Colbert's video montage of FEAR and Stewart's moving speech at the end of the rally.
Thanks for the dialogue!
You got it. Anytime, Nicole. I've always been known to stir the pot. It's great to have differences of opinion. That's what makes us special. By the way, tell Zach "Good Job" I'm sure it's not an award they give to everyone :)
